The Global Smile Index started as a blog entry that recounted an experience of just being friendly and one day sharing a smile with someone who seemed like she needed it. Everyone knows and feels how a single smile can change a day. In times like these - at any time, really - it's important to remember the little things. Little things like a smile and the enormous impact a single one can have.

I built this site (which has since reverted to this blog entry while waiting for more development cycles) while out of work as a software / database architect, waiting for positive things to happen - trying to make positive things happen - with a startup that had run out of money and an empty house that wouldn't sell. While the world begins its recovery from this period, I'll be here doing what I can to remind everyone how valuable their smiles can be by sharing data collected from anyone who visits, from wherever they may be in whichever language they speak.
