About the Global Smile Index
This site started as a
blog entry
that recounted an experience of just being friendly and one day sharing a smile with someone who
seemed like she needed it. Everyone knows and feels how a single smile can change a day. In times like these
- at any time, really - it's important to remember the little things. Little things
like a smile and the enormous impact a single one can have.
I built this site while out of work as a software / database architect, waiting
for positive things to happen - trying to make positive things happen - with a startup
that had run out of money and an empty house that wouldn't sell. While
the world begins its recovery from this period, I'll be here doing what I can to remind
everyone how valuable their smiles can be by sharing data collected from anyone who visits,
from wherever they may be in whichever language they speak. Are you interested in the general
mood in Tahiti? Ukraine? Boston?
Update 4.13.2009:
I've taken the primary site offline while I finish several key pieces of
functionality and re-architect the database using MySQL in order to use
less-expensive but higher-capacity hosting.
